8 DAYS, 7 NIGHTS CYCLING TOUR IN ITALY
FLORENCE TO RAVENNA “SULLE ORME DI DANTE ALIGHIERI”
MOUNTAIN BIKE, £999 PER PERSON

DAY 1
Let us roam through the incredibly beautiful trails and landscapes of the Apennine Tosco Romagnolo, to discover green valleys yet untouched by mass tourism and verdant countryside, ever so generous in providing us with the fruits of the land. From Florence all the way to Ravenna, the crowning jewel of the Adriatic Sea, and worthy end point of a gorgeous tour that is not too demanding on the cyclist.

DAY 2, VISIT TO FLORENCE
The birthplace of renaissance, the city where Dante was born in 1265 and famous throught the world for its work of arts, Florence is a must visit for any tourist coming to Italy. We will take you on a guided tour to see the monuments and
sights of the city such as the Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore with the
Campanile di Giotto and the Battistero di San Giovanni and the Ponte Vecchio on the river Arno.

DAY 3, FLORENCE TO VICCHIO
This is the first leg of our pleasant yet demanding tour, taking cyclists through the Appenines and to the Adiatic Riviera
on the Romagna side. We travel on secondary and country roads, as well as some forest trails that may be challenging but not impossible to cycle through. The tour departs from the square across the Florence central station; we follow the signage pointing in the direction of Fiesole. Shortly on our left, we take the trail marked as Sentiero Ar L’Aberaccio.
Then we follow the signs for trail 00, as the wooded part of the path ends after Monte Rotondo we take trail 9 and
finally, the main road to Vicchio, which is our destination for todayl Rio, the ruins of the Cantagallo Castle, built in
1000 ad, and the Alidosi bridge, a great example of a donkey back shape bridge.

Mileage = 39 km, Level = Up hill 1206 m

DAY 4, VICCHIO TO MARRADI
Today the tour starts from the centre of Vicchio. After following the signage for Villore, we climb this road in all comfort until we reach this picturesque hamlet, deep in the woods. Here the street turns into a gravel road with steeper slopes. After a few kilometres going uphill on a dirt road alternating with a pebble road, we reach the crest as we cross trail 00, where we’ll turn sharp left in the direction of Poggio Al Tiglio. From here we go downhill once again, reaching Marradi,
our destination for tonight.

Mileage = 36 km, Level = Up hill 1000 m

DAY 5, MARRADI TO BRISIGHELLA
You leave Marradi town in the direction of Faenza taking a hilly road, with a gradual climb through agricultural fields and pasture lands. Then we get to Borgo Gamberaldi, a large stone building sitting at an elevation of 828 m. After a few kilometres of pleasant ups and downs, on the crest dividing the Valle del Lamone from the Valle del Sistria, we reach
Ca’ Malanca. Close from here there is the Zattaglia’s Parco Carne` (a visit there is mandatory). Then we go on under
the Cross of Rontana. Downhill from the cross, a very pleasant single track will lead us to Brisighella. Its gorgeous landmarks, including the Rocca and the Torre dell’Orologio, can be seen in the distance. This is our destination
for today.

Mileage = 34 km, Level = Up hill 1081 m

DAY 6, BRISIGHELLA TO RAVENNA
As we leave the historic centre of the beautiful town of Brisighella we will enjoy the beauty of the rolling hills and of the picturesque panorama. Following the signs for Santa Lucia, we will travel through the countryside. Now it is time to say farewell to the rolling hills. We are entering the flat lands of the Po valley. We will take the Via Fiume Montone Abbandonato which will take us all the way to Ravenna. After a few kilometres, we enter the city and reach the
Piaza del Duomo, thus arriving at our final destination.

Mileage = 54 km, Level = Up hill 115 m

DAY 7, VISITS TO RAVENNA
Coasting the Adriatic Sea, Ravenna has a great cultural history having been three time a capital city: first as capital
of the Roman empire of the west and then of the east and of the Ostrogoth. We will take you for a full day tour of this unique city and we will see attractions such as the Mausoleums of Galla Placida and Theodoric and the Basilicas
of San Vitale and Sant’Apollinare in Classe famous for theirs Byzantines mosaics.

DAY 8.
Transfers to Bologna airport for flight back to London.

reservations for you.

CYCLING HELMETS MUST BE WORN DURING THE TOURS.

EXTRAS
You are welcome to bring along your own bike. If you’d rather use one of our bikes, we hire either front suspension mountain

MAKING A BOOKING
To make a booking you must be over 18 and send us a completed booking form and
non-refundable deposit of £29 for each person.

**Full day guided tour to florence available at any time during the stay as an alternative to cycling as an additional cost of £75 minimum number of passengers required is 8.
